VOICE FROM THE CIVIL WAR 1:00 P.M Author and Living History Performer Eileen Mae Knapp Patch, of Endwell, NY, will be presenting the life of Sergeant George Magusta Englis of Company K, 89th New York Voluntary Infantry, also known as the Dickinson Guard.
Come listen to the heartfelt journey of this soldier based on the 59 letters sent home to his family over the course of the civil war from 1861-1865.
Patch, an author and educator has transcribed, researched and annotated the letters into her book entitled "This From George", a common ending to many of Sergeant Englis's letters.Dressed in 1880's clothes, Ms. Patch portrays her great grandmother Sarah Englis as the compelling story of a civil war soldier comes alive once more.

PERSISTANCE 2:00 P.M
The Dana L. West Drama Club will be performing the play Persistance-The story of the purchase of Alaska written by David Connelly for Auburn's 2009 Founders Day.

Saturday July 31, 2010 CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT ALL DAY

Col. David Ireland Camp #137 Binghmanton, New York
Demenstration of soldier life during the civil war will be presented by Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Members of this group are descendants of civil war soldiers.
Dressed in period uniforms, they will portray camp life by use of period equipment and cookware.
Camp will be at the old football field in Port Byron, next to the old high school.

Saturday July 31, 2010 THE WOMAN'S RELIEF CORPS ALL DAY
Displaying artifacts of the Grand Army of the Republic
Lorraine Orton and members of the Woman's Relief Corps, the official auxiliary of the G.A.R., will be joining us on July 31st to display G.A.R. artifacts.
The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was an early veterans group formed by soldiers of the civil war. The G.A.R. became a strong political force and with their endless efforts, the Grand Army Pension Bill became law in the year 1900 securing pensions for the soldiers of the civil war.
